I would like to make a proposition regarding a form of protest concerning the way our Government is spending the money they take from us called taxes. Unless I am mistaken, I believe this idea is legal and easy to do. I even have a name for it but I will get to that in a moment.
I propose we designate 2 consecutive weeks and file exempt from our withholding for that pay period. The reason for the 2 weeks is because not everyone’s payday is the same week and the 2 weeks will cover nearly every working citizen. So however a person volunteers they can pick Week A, Week B, or both.
Doing the math, I took my withholding and multiplied it by a million. The result was a lot of money based strictly on the withholding! I can only imagine how much we can deprive the Government of our funds if 10, 20 or even 40 million hit them with this at the same time.
Now, what should we do with the taxes we withhold? I suggest we spend it. Get yourself something. Go to a ballgame or have a party. Get a game or some books. I would also recommend spending at local small businesses. Go to a nail salon or go to a barber. Let’s take the money away from the Government we know will just throw it away and put it back into the one and only thing that can save this economy, the Private Sector.
Let us stand as one and say to the current White House Administration that “We The People” may not have gone to Harvard but we still know what is best for this Country. Let us remind this administration and Congress that we do not work for them, they work for us.
Now for the name we call this protest? I recommend we call it “Withhold the Withholding”. Nuf said.
I would appreciate anyone’s ideas or suggestions on how to put this together. Our biggest assist is right here on the internet. Let’s use this while we still have it and make this happen.
